The Canton of Valais is steeped in history and culture and is home to the Montreux Jazz festival. The world renown Gianadda Foundation is situated Martigny, which also houses many art galleries and museums.  The area provides many wonderful sightseeing opportunities.

For relaxation and serenity at any time of the year, there are a number of wellness facilities throughout the canton, with the nearest to Champex-Lac situated at Saillon, some 25 mins by car.

For those seeking an active non winter holiday, a variety of sports can be enjoyed, including hiking, golf (Verbier and Sion) , mountain biking, climbing, rafting, canyoning, sailing, paragliding.

Walkers can enjoy the long hiking season from March to November utilising the well marked network of trails, which offer a great number of day walks and longer for the more serious hiker.

The more extreme athletes can participate in the Mont Blanc Marathon, a 3 day run through the mountains which goes through Champex-Lac.
